As we all know, learning a foreign language is altogether a new experience. It makes people acquainted with a whole new culture and their way of living. And you know what? I experienced the same. When I started learning Japanese 3 months ago, I was afraid whether I would grasp anything, but thankfully with the help of Khushboo 先生, I’m enjoying my new journey on the path of foreign language learning. These 3 months have been amazing and I have learnt a lot of new things about日本 and the 日本人.

Now even if the word Japan comes to mind I immediately link it with humbleness. It amazes me how respectful and considerate Japanese are even in normal conversations and how humbly they greet each other by bowing; this just makes me want to learn more and more about them. And to be honest I’m not a quick learner but the way Khushboo 先生 teaches it just makes everything easy and understandable.

Thank you Ma’am I really appreciate the efforts you make and the attention you give to each and every student of yours.

If you talk to a man in a language, he understands that goes to his head, But if you talk to him in his own language it goes to his heart.

-By Nelson Mandela

Language learning has always been an integral part of my life since high school. Where I come from is a country of festivals, food, language and culture, so these things have always inspired me since I was a small kid. That’s why language learning has been an important yet a fun part of my life.

The Japanese language has always fascinated me. Maybe it has a lot of alphabets, scripts or the way of speaking makes you more eager and curious.
I am a huge fan of anime, manga like Shin chan, Doraemon etc., so the main attraction for this language came from this, but it got wings when I played the famous card game called YU-GI-OH, then what else? I decided in a heartbeat and signed up for the course.

In the month of January I came through an ad for learning Japanese, attended its demo class and quickly joined the beautiful journey of learning Japanese language through Eiwa Language School, Director- Khushboo Agarwal. And it has been a wonderful journey so far. Every week at 6.00pm in the evening fascination, excitement and astonishment knocks on my door for a wild journey into the arms of the LAND OF THE RISING SUN.

The most beautiful flower is the Rose, yet it also has got thorns with it, same is with language learning. In the beginning it took a little time to adjust to the language but once I got accustomed it became a lot easier.
3 months have passed since my quest for learning Japanese, faced a lot of challenges, hard work but remained determined towards constant learning and practices to get results.

The reading has become polished a lot better in these 3 months and also got swift in understanding and interpretation, and I learned a lot about the country and its culture. Now with a little handy grammar sentence construction has also become polished.

So far I have left no stone unturned in this quest of learning Japanese, in my words I cannot describe the feelings when I see something in Japanese and can read it also understanding the meaning along with it
Also I met some Japanese friends online and converse with them and getting to know them is the best part as I can write as well as speak their language. I definitely feel positive and strong from learning Japanese and hope that someday I can also share my experience and knowledge to someone needing it.

“ A thing of beauty is a joy forever ” –   my six months of stay in Japan lead me to a better understanding of this quote by the well-known poet, John Keats. Two months have passed since my return from Japan, yet I feel so nostalgic about the country and the Japan foundation Institute, which became my second home. The beauty of this country is visible in every aspect; be it, culture, tradition, cleanliness or technology. If you stay in Japan for a while, it is bound to leave an indelible mark on your mind.

For me, it was a unique experience in every sense. It brought into my life some of the best teachers and also a few of the most unforgettable friendships. More than anything, it changed my entire perspective on language learning. I understood the true joy of knowing a different language. Also it brought to fore the fact, that your knowledge of a language is incomplete if you cannot use a language to convey your thoughts or to understand others. Therefore, I would urge all the language learners who are reading this article to trust my experience and cherish what you know so far. The key is to use your knowledge as much as you can. It doesn’t matter if you make mistakes in this process. As long as you communicate, you have reached your goal. Just focus on your “can-do” because when it comes to language, there will always be something that will remain to be conquered!

Kawagoe (川越), also known as Little Edo, is located about 30 minutes by train from Central Tokyo. Its main street is lined with Kurazukuri (clay-walled warehouse-styled) buildings and transports one back to the Edo Period (1603-1867). During the Edo Period, Kawagoe prospered as a supplier of commodities to Edo (now known as Tokyo)
